About Bryan

LightweightFour007-01

Bryan Kitch is a life-long artist, with an academic background in Classical Civilization and a keen interest in athletics. Bryan took up rowing as a college freshman in 2001, and has not let go since. Both the athletic and academic sides of his life influence his artwork, from content to execution, and he hopes they will continue to do so as he strives to progress in all three disciplines.

Experience as an Oarsman:

Bryan began rowing in the 2001-2002 season, when he was a freshman in college, and the sport captivated him both in terms of its visual beauty and the physical challenge that it provided. At UCLA, he earned “Most Improved” honors as a freshman, and went on to be named “Most Outstanding Oarsman” on the Varsity squad in 2003, 2004 and 2005, having been named to the Pac-10 All Conference Rowing Team in 2003. Since then, he has competed for the NYAC rowing team (2005-2009), winning US Rowing National Championships as both a lightweight and a heavyweight, placing 2nd in the Men’s LWT VIII at the Head of the Charles, and making the quarterfinals at Henley Royal Regatta. This past year, he competed for the London Rowing Club (2007-2008) while earning his MA in Classical Art & Archaeology, and medaled in international regattas in Galicia, Spain, and Ghent, Belgium. He is also an experienced coach, both on the water and in the gym, as an assistant frosh coach for UCLA in 2006, and an Indo-Row ™ coach from 2006-2009. He currently coaches at the Pacific Rowing Club in San Francisco, and has recently become a member of the Dolphin Club.
